Notices – 5th Sunday of Easter

VOTIVE CANDLE STAND:  Thanks to all who contributed to the Votive Candle Fund.  The Appeal Fund stands as:  Donations Received:  $2570,  Burkett Trust:  $1500 and Offerings Received (to 24/4/11):  $179.  Making a total of $4249.  The Candle Stand cost $5980.  Thanks to Paul Spurdle and McGregor Electrical for the design and installation and to all who have made donations.  If you still wish to contribute, envelopes are available at the back of the church.

N.T.P.A:  One in Christ: The Sacraments of Initiation. To be held at St Joseph’s Church 19th June 11:30—3:30pm.  Hosted by Bishop Peter Cullinane and Team. It’s a 2 part lecture with a shared lunch in the middle that looks at how we become one in Christ, through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.   All are welcome.

ESPISCOPAL ORDINATION OF Mons CHARLES DRENNAN:  The Ordination will take place at the Cathedral Of The Holy Spirit at 11am on June 11.  All parishioners are most welcome to attend.  The Ordination will be followed by lunch.  If any parishioner wishes to attend please contact Sr Mary.  Numbers are needed for catering purposes.

NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP:  Novena at St Joseph’s Church every Thursday at 5.30pm.

DOVE WOMEN’S RETREAT DAY:  A wonderful opportunity for all women. With keynote speakers, Joy Cowley, Abbot Brian Keogh, Donna Orsuto and Stephen Kirk.  Workshop leaders include, Bishop Phillip Richardson, Mark Richards, Fr Alan Roberts, Bronwyn and David Lea (Prayer in Marriage and Family Life) and Mike Delany.    To be held at the Diocesan Centre, 33 Amesbury St, Palmerston North, 11-13 August.  See the brochure in the Church foyer.

Notices – 3rd Sunday of Easter

CONFIRMATION: Preparation for Confirmation begins today after 5.30 Mass at St Joseph’s Parish Hall. This preparation is for Yr 11 and above. Enrolment forms are available from the Parish office, the church foyer and the School Colleges.

Retreat week-end is May 20—22. Confirmation will be celebrated Sunday June 26.

Notices – Passion Sunday

STATIONS OF THE CROSS:  Stations will be prayed at St Joseph’s church on Fridays during Lent at 5.30pm.

MASS OF THE OILS:  Tues 19 April.  This will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Palmerston North at 7pm.  During this Mass our priests re-affirm their commitment to priestly ministry and representatives from throughout the diocese collect the holy oils blessed by the Bishop for use during the coming year.  A light meal will be available from 5.30 in the Parish Lounge for those travelling and a cuppa will be served following Mass.  There will be a massed Diocesan Choir and if you would like to be part of this a form is available from our parish office.  If you would like to attend Mass please phone the Parish Office

HOLY WEEK:

Holy Thursday:  St Joseph’s 7.30pm
Good Friday:     St Philomena’s  3pm
Holy Saturday:  Easter Vigil.  St Joseph’s 7.30pm

This Liturgy begins with the Service of Light, then the Liturgy of Word, Rites of Baptism and Confirmation and the Liturgy of the Eucharist, which means it will take over an hour, commencing at 7.30pm.  Please bring warm clothing, individual candles and holders (a plastic coke bottle cut in half is a good holder) and a plate of food for the Celebration Supper.  Refreshments will be provided by the Parish.

St Joseph’s   9am and 10.30am
